This is a rug that I bought in Mexico. Its official name is Zapotec rug, and it is called Tapete locally. It is from Oaxaca, Mexico. This is a naturally dyed wool rug woven by the Zapotec people of Teotitlan del Valle village. They do not use chemicals for the dyes, but instead use dyes extracted from nature, such as indigo for blue, rosemary for yellow, and cochineal, a bug collected from cacti for red, which are used to dye the yarn before weaving it. The colors are very natural. The unique color combinations of the local people are also a distinctive feature.

This is a wool rug woven with a traditional pattern handed down by the Zapotec people. Although it has a distinctive pattern, the colors of the natural dyes are very natural, so it doesn't look too flashy. This is a one-of-a-kind wool rug.

Size: 103 x 59 cm (fringe not included)

*Slivers of wood may get mixed in during the dyeing process. We inspect all products at the time of purchase and in Japan, but if you notice any splinters while using the product, please gently remove them using tweezers or similar.
